Longs Peak Science and Engineering Fair

Slide show presentation for Longs Peak.

Longs Peak Science and Engineering Fair (LPSEF) will hold its 34rd annual fair on March 4, 2004. We normally have the Fair on the first Tuesday in March but the Ballrooms are booked on that date. LPSEF is a regional fair affiliated with the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). This allows LPSEF to receive many awards that are available only to affiliated fairs. In addition we are able to send up to three senior projects to the ISEF. These projects can include up to one group project and up to two individual projects.

Perhaps a little terminology is in order. A senior project is any project done by a 9th through 12th grader.  The other division at LPSEF is a junior project which is a project completed by a 6th through 8th grader. An individual project is one completed by a single student. A group project can be done by 2 or 3 students.

Every year the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF) is held at CSU in Ft. Collins, Colorado. We are permitted to send the best students in the Junior and Senior divisions. Currently we can send 26 projects total each in the junior and senior divisions. This may change in the future.

CSU - Ft. Collins, April 8-10, 2004      Colorado Science and Engineering Fair

Portland, OR, May ????, 2004        International Science and Engineering Fair

* Critical ISEF forms are necessary when a project involves vertebrates, humans, DNA, tissues, pathogenic or
   controlled substances.

LPSEF is an affliated fair of the International Science and Engineering Fair(ISEF). We are allowed to send up
to two individual and one group project on to the ISEF. Teachers and students from the LPSEF attended the
International Science and Engineering Fair(ISEF) last year.  They may be willing to go out to your school to
give a presentation on their projects or on what it was like to attend the ISEF.

Division and categories will be the same as last year. Group projects will be considered as any other category
and therefore there will be no limits on group projects going to state. There is a limit of one group project going
to the ISEF

The LPSEF will be paying the full amount of room, board and travel to the ISEF. This represents a very big
drain on the Longs Peak Science Foundation. Therefore unless there are some large contributions I am instituting
the following change: Depending on funding we may not be able to send two individual  and one group projects to the ISEF.
